For my first section of Digital Leading and Learning classes, I started building my ePortfolio in 5303, and creating an Innovation Plan for 5305. Starting my graduate courses, I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. When I attended the class meetings, I became very overwhelmed by the amount of work and information the professors were giving me. The first week of DLL courses, I admit that I did not start any of my researching or readings till days later. And by that time, I forgot everything the professors went over and decided to come up with a GroupMe for everyone taking the courses. Starting the GroupMe with all my classmates helped me become more confident and more successful in my DLL courses because we all asked question for clarity on work.
Starting 5303, I was introduced to what an ePortfolio is and what its used for. The professors also provided us with a great deal of videos and resources to help us become even more successful while making our ePortfolios. With 5303 introducing me to ePortfolios, I enjoyed creating my own and viewing my peers. This course made me confident on sharing my ideas and getting feedback and feedforward. Something I can do better at is blogging. On my ePortfolio, I only blogged about once a week despite the professor asking us to blog more than once a week. The other course that contributed to my ePortfolio was 5305. In 5305, we created an Innovation Proposal that we would continue to work on throughout all DLL courses. 5305 made me stop and realize why I wanted to innovate. It made me really stop and think about my content area and what needed to be changed. I love how my professor viewed our assignments and provided us with feedback and grades in a very timely matter. He always steered us the right way and made sure that we were focusing on the learning. Something I need to work on and do better with is turning in assignments on the correct due date. I was a couple of days late turning in my literature review because I let time pass me by and became overwhelmed.
I combined these two courses because working on my proposal, literature review, and implementation outline helped me play around with themes and designs on my ePortfolio. I got to explore my Wix account and see all the different things that were offered with the website. 5303 and 5305 helped me bring together my ePortfolio. Without these two courses, my ePortfolio would not be interesting or worth viewing. These two courses taught me why I should utilize my ePortfolio and how to put everything together on one site. My core collaboration group consisted of everyone in the GroupMe, but I worked more closely with Andrei Dobrodumov, Andrea Harrell, and Kelven Wilson. Andrei and I both have the same content area as SpEd so we bounced ideas off of each other. Andrea and Kelven are people I bonded with over the last couple of months and we always peer reviewed each other’s work.
I am giving myself a self-assessment score of a 78. I chose a score between 70-79 because I didn’t not meet one of the key contributions and more than one of the supporting contributions. For the key contributions, I have not yet resubmitted my Implementation Outline, and have not had a chance to edit it. To have a score between 80-89, I needed to revise and resubmit all assignments. Also, in my Implementation Outline, I did not provide any references to show where I received my ideas from. I have choice a score of 78, but over my two-week winter break, I will revise and edit all my assignments. I want my ePortfolio to flow and have everything done the correct way before the next two courses start in January.
