Contribution to Learning & Community

Coming back to the DLL program after taking a semester off really challenged me. Luckily, I had peers who have taken these courses to help me and provide me great feedback and feedforward on assignments. I was more focused attending classes this time around. I felt like I knew the pace of the course, I knew what was expected out of both professors, and I also knew that if I had any questions, the professors and my peers were there to help. Compared to my first session of courses, this time I started my readings and assignments earlier rather than days later. I re watched recordings to get better understanding and I reached out to my peers more than the first session.

This semester 5302 and 5304 focused on the growth mindset and learning how to include other colleagues and staff in the innovation plan. 5304 was the most challenging to me these eight weeks. I felt the discussion posts were the most interesting to talk about and contribute to, however, the assignments through me for a loop. Even if I did receive a bad grade on an assignment, I respect the professors for allowing me to redo the assignment or to fix mistakes on an assignment. Building up my ePortfolio has been fun. I have become more confident sharing my ePortfolio w/ my peers this time around. Anytime my peers asked me a question I didn't feel shameful to share my ePortfolio with them for them to reference. This session also cleared up a lot of confusion I had about COVA. We got into it a little bit in 5303 but now I know what it is and could teach it if I had to. I combined 5302 and 5304 by changing my mindset from fixed to growth in order to complete and properly research for most of my assignments. I feel like all of the assignments in the courses go hand and hand. While doing the growth mindset assignment for 5302, it made me think of my why assignment for 5304 by exploring beyond what I want to achieve with my SpEd students.

I am giving myself a self assessment score of 85. I chose the score between 80-89 because I admit I did not post in a timely manner. The discussion post and posting on my blogs were not a major thing on my list until the end of the course. I believe I started off strong, but as time went on, I became caught up with the assignments. If I were keeping a scoreboard at the beginning of the course I would have been able to balance and reference my to-do-lists.
