Learning has changed significantly all over the globe. From chalkboards and erasers to dry erase boards and erasers to pencil and paper to technology everyone learns differently and takes in learning differently. ‘Daniel Pink's Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us’ stood out to me because to get people to learn something new we must see what motivates them to do the type of learning. Whether it's higher pay, higher rewards, or any other incentives, we must see what drives people to want to learn. Sir Ken Robinson said that we live in a world where everything is digital nowadays and I feel this makes learning a little easier. It is important for teachers, staff, and students to use all the resources that are available to them. Even if you feel like you do not need it, it is nice to learn from it because you never know you might need it later. You can't just clone a system. You need to personalize the education to the people you are actually teaching. Meaning that you can not copy someone else's way of teaching. You must first look to who your audience is and teach accordingly so that everyone understands the concept. These videos influenced my philosophy because with my background being SpEd, I always have to look for incentives to motivate my students to learn or try something new. Whether it's an extra 5 minutes of break or letting them sit with their favorite toy for a while, everyone gets motivated differently and needs personal incentives to get them into their learning.
