Sometimes when you feel uncomfortable doing something that means you are doing it right. When teachers are in PL, they should do more to get up and go, than sit and listen. Modeling, monitoring, and supporting each other through PL will help get more ready to show the kids the curriculum. Collaboration is a big role in PL. When you have a team there, you all can see what works and what didn’t and tweak as needed. Listening and trying to follow the students' thinking can help create more lessons and planning for them to be more engaged. Being an educator you will always learn things to enhance the learning of your students. Educators have to be ok with taking risks, and must be ok with feeling uncomfortable. Because once you start to model to your students, they are looking to you to see how confident you are. If you aren't afraid to make mistakes in front of your students then they will be ok making mistakes because they know that is a part of learning.
Teachers must also be willing to learn from students. Let's take technology as an example. Most students from this generation rely heavily on technology, whereas the teachers are a little behind on using it. Teachers must be willing to not only teach students but to learn from them as well. Modeling to your students that you are never too old to learn will then help them be more comfortable learning any new things. Even when teachers do not know certain things, they should feel comfortable asking the students to clarify. Teachers have to be ok with change and embrace the change so everyone can be on the same page.
